Pwani School for the Mentally Challenged is a mixed public, day and boarding school.

The school started as a unit in Kikowani primary school in 1984. By the
year 1999, the unit had grown to a fully fledged school and moved to the
present site.

This is the eighth year since the school moved. The
enrolment has increased from eleven pupils on the first day to 60 up to
date, 40 boys and 20 girls.

The school admits pupils of all ranks between the ages of 6 - 24 years. It
is situated in New Nyali (Bombolulu) on a ten acre plot No. MN/1/5940
allocated by the Kenya Government for the mentally handicapped school in
1986- the international year for the Disabled persons.
